Hi, I’m Sylvia. That’s my only name. But I adopt the name “Giacinta” after I got baptized and “Huang” from my Chinese surname. So there you go, my so-called full name is Sylvia Giacinta Huang. If you come here by googling my artificial full name, hi. You’ve made it. Other names I’ve used including Sylvia Yellow, Sylvia Bong, Sylvia Huang. My Chinese surname Huang (黄) means yellow. So there you go. Whereas Bong is the Hakka version of Huang. Oh by the way my chinese name is Huang Shu Ling (黄淑玲). Another name I’ve used is Issabella Sylvia Krystle, which was actually the name my mom created for me, but never made its way to my birth certificate. If you’re asking why, I gotta answer you in another page.

I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia some years ago. You can search the archive of the months of May if you want to know how old I am. I’m not that old, really. After finishing senior high school (majoring in Science stream - the biggest mistake in my life to date - i told you i’m not that old), I moved to Singapore. Just some kilometres away from home.

I’m currently an undergraduate at Singapore Management University, majoring in Information Systems Management and Corporate Communications. The story of me struggling to get to SMU (and moving to Singapore) is very, very long and will require another page. Like seriously.

It’s quite hard to describe who I am. I guess the best word is “complicated”. Not like those emo kids’ complicated, but like really complicated. It might help you to determine what kind of person I am by reading my interests and my activities listed below.

Interests/Activities
I like reading. I don’t really have time to read the physical book anymore, but I do love to read articles online. I read web comics (ask me for my favourites), bizarre news, news in general, Wikipedia featured articles (and all the links), some science articles (after all it still excites me), and anything my stumbleupon stumbles me into (which I gave a thumb up).

Another inseparable thing from me is music. I’ve been listening to music since I can… listen. My mother said it was obvious that I’ve had good music taste since I was small coz I only “rock” for good songs. Example of the songs I “rock” to are The End of the World by Skeeter Davis and Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley. I was sent to study piano (classical) and went up ’til grade 6. After some break, I continued to learn again in Singapore. For the type of music I listen to…. er.. Again, it’s too many. Visit my last.fm to get a clue

As for activity.. I’m currently in SMU Chamber Choir doing.. er.. singing, of course.

And it’s already 5.30 PM and it’s time for me to go home from work.. er.. internship. I’ll continue this later~~~~~~!!!!

About the blog

This blog was set up several months after I moved to Singapore. Previously my blog was located at blogspot. My friend introduced me this “geeky” blogging platform and my other friend offered to host it so that I can get my own domain name, and so here I go. If in my previous blog I ranted about my so-so daily life, now I post interesting findings and my own life updates occassionally.

Hope you find some value by reading my blog, even only a small grin.
