Just like many other cheapskates in the world, Cheapskatesylv decided to join in the fun of getting free ice cream despite her strict diet. (To my dietician, yes I promise I will do more exercises tomorrow.. Promise..)
Cheapskatesylv and her boyfriend, Cheapskatevit, decided to go to Ben n Jerry’s outlet in United Square. Our deduction was that it would be less crowded and it’s nearer to Cheapskatesylv’s home (and automatically Cheapskatevit’s home too. Not that we’re living together).
So we went there and decided to eat first since we’re hungry… And free ice cream will make a great dessert!
We went to Genki Sushi because.. Oh well.. You know that we love sushi..
Genki Sushi is nice.. But what intrigues me is…
Empty conveyor belt.
Empty??
Sigh..
Decided to order a bigger meal instead. I was already thinking of sushi feast.. Oh well.
And so we headed to the 2nd floor to get B&J.. But then.. OMG… It was such a long and unorganized queue! Sooo many students there, although it was just 3 PM.. Sigh..
Without further ado, we quickly took the MRT to Dhoby Ghaut.. To The Cathay of course! Our favourite mall since it’s usually not crowded and thus perfect for lovey-dovey acts (oops).
I think now I have unhealthy addiction to beading.. Oh noes!
I was super “productive” last time and made 2 sets of bracelets and earrings! Each set contains 3 bracelets and 2 pair of earrings. OMGWTFBBQ rite??
Behold.. My newest babies.. Paulette and Bernadette!
Paulette is shy, humble, soft, and elegant.
Just like what her name means.. (name meaning obtained from babynamesworld)
To create the image, I use beads with softer colours.. I always think pink and green make such a good colour combination.. Now I’ll let you look at Paulette!
(I’m too lazy to name the bracelets/earrings one by one)
The bracelets~
2 of them have shocking pink beads.. They still look modest though. It’s like, you know, shy people usually have this spark things once in a while?
Now the earrings!
Of course, since she’s delicate and sweet.. I still use the soft coloured beads.. Teh pretteh =)
Basically Bernadette likes pink n green too!
However, add some black beads and poof! Sexy rock kitten. Meow.
Look at the bracelets..
Very bold, right?
And what’s the perfect earrings style for a daring sexy woman?
Mismatched pair of earrings!
The first pair is super super mismatched =P
The second pair is well.. More organized? =P but still mismatched
Teh sexeh
Here’s a shot of all the earrings..
Geez.. I’m really addicted!! Help!!
Tell me what you think of my bracelets and earrings, ok?
There’s a reason why I repeated the word 4 times. You’ll know later.
Went for a basic wirework class conducted by Izel on Tuesday. (Yes, Paddy, now I know where you stay… Bwahahaha) Learned about the basics of manipulating pins (flat-head and round-head pins) to make… Yes you’ve guessed it.. Earrings! Had a great fun twisting my pins (and my hands… LOL). Buying books and watching tutorial videos just don’t cut it, believe me. Having a real life human instructor really really helps. You can know what the guideline is, you can know whether you’re wrong or right, and when you’re wrong you can be corrected immediately! If you’re interested on learning, I highly recommend classes by Izel Satisfaction guaranteed You can even ask her where to buy the beads and other jewelry parts! I got 3 namecards in hand now. Hahaha.
In case you don’t know, I’m a big sucker of earrings! Whenever I’m visiting a blogshop selling jewelries, I will take a look at the earrings first. No matter what.
And finally! I’m able to make my own earrings
Just like online shops that like to name their products, lemme name my earrings too..
(note : pardon the low quality of the images. My phone camera really can’t make it =/ )
This one with green big beads and strands of blue-white-green beads.. I name her Lisa. The name gives the impression of shy, simple, yet elegant woman.
(By the way, the real meaning of Lisa is “My God is a vow”)
Next in line..
This one’s name is “Blair”. Coz it gives the impression of a strong, confident, and outspoken girl.
(Oh come on, you know I’m a big fan of Gossip Girl)
It looks a bit slanted.. Well actually it is. Coz I used a big and heavy bead yet the pins are very soft and delicate. So… It got slanted. It’s actually different from what I intended to be. I wanted to finish this piece with something else, but ended up with those red beads at the bottom. But that “something else” will be used later…
And for the last piece!
Picture really sucks but there are actually blood-red swarovski crystals dangling there! Luv it..
I named her… Kelly. Based on Kelly Rutherford, the actress who plays Serena’s mother on Gossip Girl, Lily Van Der Woodsen. (Lily sounds too fragile to me. Kelly sounds better..) It’s an image of elegant and graceful woman.
She’s like the hottest mom ever.
Anyway, this piece is that “something else” I was talking about. I wanted to attach this fan with those dangling beads to “Blair”, but I thought it would be too heavy and too long. So I decided to make this “fan” by itself and ta-dah! Another pair of earrings!
All three of them. Lisa, Blair, and Kelly. Hehehe.
And here’s the special piece!
Named Kinski, after my dear friend who has just been baptized to be a Catholic. This pair of earrings has an obvious message : Love Jesus who has died on the cross for you. Hope this gift will always make her remember to love the Lord.
And… That’s all folks! Wishing to create more and more earrings! It’s fun!!
P.S. now you know why I repeat the word 4 times, right?
I’m currently reminiscing my past laden with wonderful songs. My parents are fans of good music and my TV was always hooked to MTv channel/Channel V (I had cable TV).
Ah.. This is one great song I remember!
Celine Dion with That’s The Way It Is.
I remember singing this song when I was just at elementary school (!), without even knowing the meaning of the words. Lolz. Sure I tried to open dictionary and all that, but it didn’t give me any clue. I couldn’t even understand what’s the meaning of the phrase “That’s The Way It Is”! haha. Oh of course I know it now.
My music library has always been invaded by English songs. Well apart from some Japanese songs (which my boyfriend loves a lot), some classical and instrumental tunes, and well… Some tiny pieces of Indonesian songs here and there. I know I’m not patriotic or whatever.. Sigh..
The thing is.. I’m just too used to listen to English songs. Despite the fact English is not my first language (at least it’s my second). My mom likes English songs, especially the retro ones, you know.. Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey with their wonderful wonderful voices before they turn into some R&B “Touch My Body” chick with tight skirt and tight bra. Ok I know I’m only referring to one.. But you’ve got the idea. My mom keeps a collection of cassettes. Even when she’s already had children she still buys cassettes of singers she likes. My mom is anti-piracy! Woohoo! Oh, now she’s moved on to CD already, so I heard from my siblings. LOL.
I digressed. Okay anyway, I’ve listened to English songs more often that Indonesian songs. Sad but true. I’m sorry, my dear home country. It’s not that I don’t like Indonesian songs, you know! I like them! Although I think the new ones are a bit “cheap” and distasteful… I mean the lyrics! Oh holy mother of songs the lyrics!! I can’t stand them!!!
Example…
T2 with OK
Yes I know the music and the melodies are nice. But the lyrics. Oh no….
If you don’t understand Indonesian, please drag some of your Indonesian friends to translate them.
One snippet…
“Kau terlalu lama mengulur waktumu, aku jadi capeeee deeee”
“You have held on for too long, I become very tired laaaaa” (translated into Singlish)
And what’s with the video, splashing around beach with beachwear? Haven’t FPI (that’s an extremist Moslem organization that thinks women wearing revealing clothes are devils. Like, real devils. Like satans) said something about this? Nay? Hmm.
Oh FPI was also the one who wanted to ban Playboy Indonesia! Lolz.
Another example..
Ussy with Klik
This girl was a soap opera star if I’m not wrong. No job already, dear girl? No good job offer until you decided to torture my ears with those horrible lyrics..(Can you hear “I will do it… I will do it.. Ahhh…”????)
I’m not even gonna translate it (unless there are pressing demands to do so).
Just one snippet.. Of the chorus
Ku memang punya trik,
buat kau klik,
dengan diri ku
Bukan dengan magic,
cuma asyik,
saat dengan mu
(I have a trick
to make you “click”
with me
Not with magic
Only fun
when I’m with you)
As you can see this is a pathetic way to rhyme.. Oh goodness.
Anyway if you’re done with horrible lyrics (I AM done), let me present you some goodness that’s still available!!
Letto with Ruang Rindu
Ruang Rindu literally means “Longing Room”.. A room with all your longing feelings inside.. hahaha.. So poetic right? Right. I mean, why can’t every songwriters spend just some time more to come up with better lyrics? Those songs with horrible lyrics have catchy tunes and melodies! Just write some better lyrics and I’ll like it a lot lot lot.
Neeway, here’s a bonus.
A song that I’ve learnt how to sing without knowing the meaning of the words!
And the song is called Words! Lol. This version (from Boyzone) was the one I listened to.
In fact I think this song was the very first English song I learnt to sing. LOL.
Da da da da da da da da~
Enjoy my choice of songs~
Note : please excuse all the spelling errors in the Indonesian lyrics. Yes, Indonesians need to be educated more about their own language. Geez.
Poems and any kind of literature are my first love.
Here’s one English poem I found. (I usually read Indonesian poems, with super rich vocabulary and grammar-breaking form)
Titled “Funeral Blues”, it’s more well-known as “Stop All the Clocks” due to its first line. It was written by W. H. Auden.
You can listen to my reading by clicking play below (flash player needed) while reading the text of the poem.
Enjoy..
Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He is Dead.
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.
The stars are not wanted now; put out every one,
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.
My first time ever reciting a poem in English (really!). It’s exciting. Hahaha.
In case you don’t like my rendition, here’s a popular version, read by John Hannah at the film “Four Weddings and a Funeral”

I juz bought my brand-new pashmina. My friend kept saying that it’s useful to keep you warm. Especially in Singapore’s chilly weather INSIDE the buildings. So I bought one. Well, not after QC (Quality Control) by my boyfriend. We sorted out almost 20 pashminas before I settled on this one. Oh, its colour is jade. Kinda blue, kinda green, well you got it. My boyfriend actually preferred the white one, and he checked many many white pashminas from edge to edge. He’s got a keen eye, you know! Unfortunately, none of the white pashminas passed his QC and finally I decided to choose this jade pashmina (after he said “It looks good with your skin colour” and of course, checking it from edge to edge).
Here’s a photo! Of course I must take photo right?
Please ignore the background
And here’s something to share.. Ways to wear pashmina. I found many links online but most of them are just text, or just images so small I can’t possibly see them. And so I found the goodness.. Video! Check it out
