My Pop has been a fan of boxing. I can remember that he will always dominate the TV when the boxing show is on. Usually it was always on Sunday. Gee. I still remember.
Of course I don’t understand a thing, but I do know about my Pop’s favourite : Oscar De La Hoya. I remember him just because of his unique name. I mean, De La Hoya? Seriously?
This De La Hoya guy had a match with Floyd Mayweather (another quirky name. Or do all boxers have quirky names?) on May 2007 which resulted in the most profitable boxing match ever. Yeah man, they make money. Like seriously.
It even surpassed the record of the rematch between Evander Holyfield (see, another quirky name) and Lennox Lewis. The De La Hoya-Mayweather match earned them 52 million dollars and 25 million dollars, respectively. Like hell, man. That’s loads of money earned by just hitting and get hit.
I’m sure my Pop will be glad to hear this. Apparently, there will be a rematch between De La Hoya and Mayweather. There’s a whisper that it will be held at about September 13 or September 20.Both are on Saturdays, evening I presume. Now I know why my Pop glue his eyes to the TV screen at Sunday mornings-It’s Saturday evening in the US but it’s Sunday morning in Jakarta.
Maybe I can get Pop De La Hoya vs Mayweather tickets for his birthday. LOL. Sounds good.
