2007, good bye…

It’s just hours ’til 2008 begins..

2007 is definitely a year worth remembering. I went through the two most tiring terms ever, yet the worst ever. I learned about true friends, and how to work with difficult people.

And of course I became closely acquainted with, and eventually officially dating with my current boyfriend =)

The year is worth remembering not just because of the good events, but also because of the bad events that lead me to learn important things.

And I hope the next year will be just the same.

I have no resultions for the next year. I’m the type of a person that will forget anyway =D

I just hope the next year will be better and better..

Happy new year to all my friends =)

Nice Bedding.. for me, of course

Ever since I moved to Singapore I really wanted to make my personal bed. You know, with my own favourite bedding and everything. In Jakarta my bed always uses whatever sheets available at the moment. Sometimes the pillow cover/bolster cover/sheets don’t match. Funny but true. Lolz.

Well I found this cute Modern Bedding at Vision Bedding.

This one of the motives that I like..

palm

Well as you can see, I like simple but pretty things..

And for you girls.. They have pretty cute motives.

And they’re all available for custom-made! Even personalized.. So you can even put pictures on your bedding. Imagine, having your boyfriend photo at your pillow? “Sleeping with him” is not a dream anymore. And of course, I mean the literal meaning of sleep =P

So head over to their site and order your bedding. I’m sure you’ll be astonished at the choices!

Food in Indonesia : Martabak

Not the Indian murtabak I often encountered in Singapore.

This martabak is so sweet, oily, and rich that it’s super sinful.

It’s available in many flavours, but my favourite is the cheese one.. Here it is..

martabak keju

And yes, I forgot to tell you, it’s super thick. Usually it’s made in a whole round pan, then eventually the cook will fold it so it becomes half-circle and then cut it into 5-6 pieces.

5 to 6 thick pieces, I might say.

And then the cook will stack them in one box, that will look like this :

Another flavour my dad bought yesterday is chocolate…
martabak coklat

This one even more sinful… Sigh. They even put peanuts inside.

Close up of the layers..

martabak close up

Geez.. So sinful, rite? But tastes so good… Well but if you can’t take sweet things, better pass =P

Inside the martabak.. (I messed it up with my fork =P)
messed up martabak

One box of martabak (the “special edition” one) usually costs +/- 25000 Rupiahs, which is +/- 4 Singapore Dollars.

A great side dish… Even though it’s very fulfilling for a side dish =P

Do try one if you drop by Jakarta or Bandung! =D

In the year 2525…

What’s it gonna be?

Zager and Evans said..

In the year 2525
If man is still alive.
If woman can survive, they may find.

In the year 3535
Ain’t gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies.
Everything you think, do and say, is in the pill you took today.

In the year 4545
Ain’t gonna need your teeth, won’t need your eyes.
You won’t find a thing to chew.
Nobody’s gonna look at you.

In the year 5555
Your arms hanging limp at your sides.
Your legs got nothing to do.
Some machine doing that for you.

In the year 6565
Ain’t gonna need no husband, won’t need no wife.
You’ll pick your son, pick your daughter too.
From the bottom of a long glass tube. Whoa-oh

In the year 7510
If God’s a-comin, he oughta make it by then.
Maybe he’ll look around himself and say.

Guess it’s time for the judgment day.

In the year 8510
God is gonna shake his mighty head.
He’ll either say.I’m pleased where man has been.
Or tear it down and start again. Whoa-oh

In the year 9595
I’m kinda wonderin if man is gonna be alive.
He’s taken everything this old Earth can give.
And he ain’t put back nothing. Whoa-oh

Now it’s been ten thousand years
Man has cried a billion tears.
For what he never knew,
now man’s reign is through.

But through eternal night.
The twinkling of starlight.
So very far away.
Maybe it’s only yesterday.

Cool, huh? And it’s kinda creepy that it is somehow kinda accurate for the terms these days..

I first heard this song several years ago as a part of my listening exercise in my English course. Well my English wasn’t that good then, so I didn’t really think of the meaning of this song

Several hours ago the melody of the song suddenly striked me and so I googled for it and so.. here it is.

By the way, guess what year was this song made in? (That is, the year when it topped the Billboard charts)

It was…

1969!

Amazing huh? There are references to choosing the gender of baby, robots, and many other technology… And it was a 1969 song!

And if you’re curious about how it sounds like.. Here’s the youtube video..

Sounds depressing?

Well, I guess it’s time for us to contemplate in peace.

New year is not all about the celebrations and stuff. Fireworks, trumpets, shoutings?

New year is coming. But is it really gonna be a good year?

Btw, if you want a more modern version of the song.. here’s a cover from Visage.

Sadly I haven’t found the version I actually heard at my listening exercise. Still googling around to find it ;)

How to find web hosting? Search no more.

Countless people have asked me about how the hell did I get my own domain name along with a cool-looking blog? Well, the answer is easy. Just find a web hosting. Mostly web hosting will offer to incorporate buying a domain name in your plan. And for the cool looking blog? Use wordpress! In fact, usually in good web hosting company they will include Fantastico, which is a script installer that usually includes Wordpress. No FTP whatsoever. Just click, and done! You have wordpress installed in your website!

And so I just found this website that can really help you to find a good web hosting according to your needs and your budget. Check out http://www.webhostingchoice.com. You can define your search parameters based on the availability of certain features from the basic ones like webmail, FTP, database or the more advanced ones like SSL, Shopping Cart, Visitor Statistics, etc.

So if you’re still confused on what web hosting to use, do a search there! Hopefully you’ll find the one most suitable to your need. =)

On and Off

My glorious new internet connection has been on and off. Er, no, correction. Actually it’s my home desktop.

When I have happily surfed internet, then suddenly… It just blacked out. Reminded me of my old laptop (which is, sadly, I’m using now).

Well the thing is.. Now it’s back on.. Not the desktop.. I asked for my connection to be re-routed to my old laptop (coz apparently they don’t have the driver for the modem for Mac. Grrr), and so here I am!

And before I’m too late… Merry Christmas to you all! Stop fighting. The 2 types of blogposts I typically see at Christmas is either “Christmas is about Jesus Christ being born to this world, so let’s focus on it rather than on presents and decorations” or “Christmas is just too commercialized! Why are we still giving presents and buying decorations just to make those slick companies richer?”

I say, heck. Christmas was originally a worship to the Sun God. So, yeah, face it, Jesus Christ was not born that day. Not that I’m saying we shouldn’t celebrate. I’m still a Christian and everyone knows it for sure. But well… If you say Christmas should be all celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ… Think again.

What I believe is, Christmas should be the time for us to gather in peace. Especially for families.. After 1 year not being able to meet properly, isn’t Christmas just the right moment? After all of these days committed to our so-called commitment, why not spend just one freaking day for the people that care for us the most, people who were always there but we abandoned?

Not that it’s happening to me though. Sigh.

Nevertheless… Merry Christmas all =)

Update : A reading about Jesus Christ’s birthdate

12.0 Mbps

It’s nothing compared to my 54.0 Mbps in my home at Singapore but it’s not shared (I share my connection with 7 people in Singapore), and… And.. Finally!!

I’ve been longing for a decent internet connection since I was still in elementary school. So it’s about.. 7 years ago? Geez.

What I got was a lousy 33.6 kbps dial-up. Not to mention it keeps disconnecting and the phone line is unable to be used when I’m browsing.

Sooooo this 12.0 Mbps broadband internet connection is really good =)

And I can bloggggg. But I’m using my windows-based desktop at home…which only got 96.0 MB of RAM after I checked. Geez. How could I stand this desktop?? Can’t believe the fact..

Btw, I’ve poisoned my sisters with my Mac. Hahaha. I think it’s just about time when they start to nag to my mom to buy a new macbook for them. Lolz.

Signing off.
