2 bottle of beers and Victoria Street

I realised that there was indeed a reason for SMU to accept Ice Cold B as one of their tenants.

What does it sell? Beer of course!

On student’s rate. Oh life.

I wonder if there’s something like this in Indonesia. The university will surely get sued.

Demoralizing! Not suitable with religion! Ruining young people’s life!

Ah well. Not that it won’t happen in Singapore. But well… Majority always wins, I suppose?

Now for once more, I’m grateful that I was given the opportunity to study in Singapore.

2 bottle of beers
Drinking beer for $6 a bottle, while looking at Victoria Street with its ever flowing traffic. Those headlights..

It’s totally punk rock.

Help me to find printer cartridge..

Oh CartridgeFinder.com, please help me!

My HP Deskjet has run out of black ink. And I remember that it ran out right at the day I’m supposed to print my resume+cover letter assignment and hand them in early in the morning!

If only I had known about your Cartridge Finder earlier.. And your calculation of shipping tax based on our zip code.. And not forgetting your brilliant price comparison.. It’s really useful! Just click PriceGrabber and voila! A list of prices! No need to go to individual websites to check price… Thank’s to you!

And I found it really easy to navigate and find the exact printer. It’s very cool, you have the list of all printers. I guess it’s really near everything.

I really wish I had known you earlier. So do help me next time, oh cartridgefinder.com

My Songs…

After reading my previous blog post, my groupmate cancelled a meeting and forced me to rest at home. Thank’s, groupmate.

So while I’m relaxing, I realize that my music library has grown now (don’t ask how).. I guess it’s time to share again =P

So how it works.. I’ll put my music player (now it’s iTunes not Windows Media Player anymore) and shuffle it. These are the 10 songs that came out…

(Oh thank’s to Apple remote I can easily go to the next song.. :D )

Back at One – Brian McKnight
Voice from heaven? It is. I really wonder why sometimes some people are so talented. I’m jealous. Hehehe. =P

“One.. You’re like a dream come true.. Two.. Just wanna be with you.. Three.. Coz it’s plain to see, that you’re the only one for me..”

Honeymoon Day – Arrested Development

A nice song (that guitar riff!), combining a bit rap and a nice drum beat. Certainly a nice song to hear in the morning. It will cheer you up =D

“Come on and show me your way, this is our honeymoon day!”

Yellow – Coldplay

Yeah! Coldplay! I love Coldplay for their repetitive guitar rhythms and drum beats, plus the soothing voice from Chris Martin. It makes you calm and meditative while nodding your head and tapping your feet. I remember listening to this song when I was just 11 (that’s 7 years ago!) inside the car while my father was driving me to school. 7 years have passed and this song still stays as my favourite. A classic.

“And it was all yellow….”

I Believe I Can Fly – R. Kelly
Even though R. Kelly himself has turned into a more commercial R&B artist (which I don’t frequently listen anymore), this song remains a classic. Come on, can you say this song as a bad song?

“I believe I can flyyyyyyyyy………”

She’s in Fashion – Suede
I guess you can see the pattern of my favourite songs now? Those with repetitive forms of guitar riffs/drum beats.. And some funky sounds.. Hmm I wonder where’s the band Suede now? I would really love to have more of them.

“She’s in fashion.. Ooh ooh ooh…”

Vulnerable – Secondhand Serenade
One more of my favourite style : acoustic! Maybe this comes from my classical music education background. I effing love this song. Freaking romantic. And he really made the song for his wife.. Oh noes. I want a musician husband/boyfriend, right freaking now.

“I was born to tell you I love you.. Isn’t that a song already?”

Anthem of Our Dying Day – Story of the Year
Shock! I like emo songs too! Hahaha. In fact, there was one time when I really fell in love with rock songs. Those with super loud sounds. Hahaha. Maybe it was a puppy love =P nevertheless, this is one good piece. I like the full-of-energy voice of the vocalist.

“Anthem.. of.. our… dying… day…!!!”

I’ve Got A Dark Alley And A Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth (Summer Song) – Fall Out Boy
This is a pretty new song in my library. Of course only nice songs made it to my library =P I need songs like this when I’m studying. Stimulating my brain so that I won’t fall asleep.

“And the record won’t stop skipping, and the lies just won’t stop slipping”

Di Balik Awan – Peterpan
(translation : Behind the clouds)
I don’t have many Indonesian songs in my music library. Not that I’m not patriotic whatsoever, it’s just that I’m too used to English songs since I was small. My mother listens to English songs ever since I was so small (mother said my favourite song is The End Of The World by Skeeter Davis. Look at this post for more info).
Peterpan is a very famous band in Indonesia. My brother likes them so much. Hmm, maybe that was an understatement. My brother used to play their songs in loop (IN LOOP) many many times using the home’s hi-fi. At first, of course it’s ok, but then if you’re still sleeping and forced to hear the same song again and again, er…….

“Tempatku melihat di balik awan, aku melihat di balik hujan…”
(The place for me to see behind the clouds, I see behind the rain..)

Feeling Good – Michael Buble
I remember that this song are among the first ones added to my library when I just moved to Singapore. The reason? I just randomly got it from somewhere. Hehe. And of course, since I like male sultry voice and jazzy songs, this song made it to become my favourite.

“And I’m feeeeeeeee-lin’ gooooooodddddd…”

Glamorous – Fergie
And I also like those mainstream songs… What kind of music listener am I? Hahaha..
Hey but we must admit that this track is really well engineered. Listen at those beats and additional sounds (I heard chimes, some jazz organ sounds, strings, sirene…)

“The glamorous, the glamorous.. Ooh, the flossy flossy..”

Life Goes On – LeAnn Rimes
I like talented girls. Plus if they’re pretty. Oh, maybe they’re not pretty, only because of Photoshop wonder. Oh wellz. Never mind. By the way, this song is my favourite song back from my junior high school days.

“Life goes on, and it’s only gonna make me strong. It’s a fact, once you get on board, say goodbye coz you can’t go back..”

Goodnight and Go – Imogen Heap
Ever heard the song? Yes, the Mac OS X Leopard intro song! And true it was from there that I came to know this pretty song. Nice beats. Nice voice. 2 beats of only voice and beat, then came the “full version”. I like it. Like it. :D

“Why’d you have to be so cute? It’s impossible to ignore you…”

Cinta ‘Kan Membawamu Kembali – Dewa 19
(translation : Love Will Bring You Back)
Another popular band from Indonesia. This one is my mom’s favourite. Just listen. Even though you don’t understand Indonesian, I’m sure you’ll agree that this one song is a killer. A heartbreaker.

“Cinta ‘kan membawamu kembali di sini..Menuai rindu, membasuh perih…”
(Love will bring you back here.. Easing the longing, healing the pain…)

The Sweetest Thing – U2
The sweetest song from U2, IMO. Kinda old song, huh? I remember seeing the video clip when I was still in elementary school.. That time I didn’t even understand the meaning of the song =P Who cares. I only cared that there was Boyzone in the video clip. (Yes, I was a fan of Boyzone. Come on lah, elementary school student..)

“O-o-oh, the sweetest thing..”

Whoa, it’s 15 songs already!

And as usual.. Enjoy my fave songs via this nifty mp3 player.. Brought to you by myflashfetish.. =D Oh and yeah, some songs are linked to its particular youtube video.

music player
I made this music player at MyFlashFetish.com.

And by the way, the page Sylv Sings is updated with my cover of Britney Spears’ Everytime, complete with backing track. :D

It all happens in cycles..

An evil cycle, indeed.

Too much work to handle – become too tired – become uncontrollably slacking/procrastinating (and sometimes uncontrollably falling asleep –i’m serious) – works piling – too much work to handle – repeat cycle

And even though I’m trying to catch some rest in between (not including the accidental ones), it’s still not enough.. According to this sleep debt calculator, I need a day of 45 hours sleep. Hello, one day only has 24 hours, if I remember correctly?

Seriously, ok. SMU can be sued on the base of making the students sleep deprived. According to the wikipedia page of sleep deprivation, sleep deprivation can cause many serious health problems. The problems range from muscle ache until cardiovascular disease. Yes, you read it right.

Are you gonna pay my hospitalization fee when I’m finally hospitalized, SMU? Must you wait for somebody to be really sick until hospitalized to open your eyes, realizing the fact? Or maybe when somebody just drops dead in between classes and rushing for project meetings?

My sleep deprivation problem has come to a dangerous state. I can accidentally fall asleep anywhere anytime. There was one time during a meeting I fell asleep while still holding the mouse, in front of the computer. Luckily my groupmate called out my name several times. There was also one time when I kept falling asleep and waking up for don’t know how many times. There was a meeting at 10 AM. I woke up at 6. I did some work I was supposed to do (and the preceding night I also fell asleep, that’s why I couldn’t finish my work). Then I accidentally fell asleep until 8. Then I woke up again. Did some things again, then fell asleep again. Woke up again at 9.30. Already telling myself to wake up coz I have meeting to attend, but then I unconsciously fell asleep again. Then finally I woke up again about 10.30, and I had to apologize for being late.

Then it also makes me very emotional and sensitive. I yell at people. I express my annoyance directly (usually I do it blatantly). I curse, with very very rude words. I behave in a very irritating way. So for people that have been hurt by me these days, I’m really sorry….

And now I’m having some problems with my body system. My right arm’s muscles and joints really hurt. My back too. My neck too. My shoulder too. And right now I have a very painful waist pain (lumbago).

Sometimes I still wonder whether this is the right thing to do.. It’s one thing you can’t refuse, but it’s one thing you don’t wanna do.

I pray that I will be able to bear with it.. For 3 to 4 more weeks.

By the way, my previous post about Korean “lesbian” dolls made it to become the top post in ping.sg. Hmm.. Don’t accuse me of misleading post title ok?

I’d do anything to get money…

Maybe rooting from my entrepreneurial family background (my parents are entrepreneurs, and so are their brothers and sisters, and so are their children), I would really like to be independent, especially about money.

I still have 3 siblings whose education fee are getting higher and higher. And i’m studying in one of the most expensive university in Singapore. So… Yeah I believe it’s pretty hard for my parents back there. And furthermore the GST has increased in Singapore, while the economy state in Indonesia is not getting better..

So.. I signed up for another blog for money site that will give me USD 6 just for posting this.. This one is called Smorty. Well in short it’s a service that connects advertisers and bloggers, so that advertisers can get unique advertising on particular blogs. So yeah.. If you’re interested to make more money or advertise on some blogs, I guess Smorty is a good website.

Oh and the website interface is quite cool =)

Cute Korean Dolls

Saw these cute dolls at a Korean food stall somewhere near Orchard.

Korean Dolls 2

They’re wearing the traditional costumes. So cute…

The dolls will continuously bend their bodies forward, as in bidding you welcome.

Very cute, right?

But looking at their faces.. Hmm..

Korean Dolls

Same feminine faces… So is this a lesbian couple?

Hmm. Is lesbian in Korea allowed?
