Is it really worth it?
Published by Sylvia Giacinta October 23rd, 2007 in something spotted and sylv.thinking();. 5 CommentsIf you live in Singapore or visit Singapore regularly on holidays, you must be familiar with the beautiful christmas decoration along roads in Singapore.
However, do you know how the decorations are being put?
Spotted at Bras Basah Road (just across my school)
Yes, it’s a one-man-show. Putting all these sparkling decorations in place.
Safety harness, you ask? Let’s take a look closer… (pardon the blurry zoom. was using my phone’s camera)
Hmm… Nada. Nothing at all.
And that “lift” thingy kept rocking… I wonder if somehow it just… falls down?
Asking one person without safety harness to put all these pretty decorations (make sure you see it at night) seems like a cheap and an expensive way at the same time.
Oh well.. Next time when you pass by Bras Basah Road and be awed by the beauty of the string of lights…. Remember that it’s put up on a price of risking somebody’s life.

actually there were fatal accidents with regards to workmen falling off from those platform, cos they did not put on a safety harness.
hmmm maybe you can report to MOM.
They do it out of their own will to earn money though
Aiyoh! Poor thing … looks really dangerous to me! Okay, next time I pass by that stretch of the road, I shall remember that it’s the work of one man.
One time when I installed a new aircon unit to one of my bedrooms, one of the workers actually has to climb out of the unit and help installing the condenser fan. Though he was using a safety belt, still think it is a very high risk job.
Wilfrid… you are right about one thing.
The least we can do is look at those decorations admire them and think that it was done by this one daring man
Cool post.
