Missing somebody…

Posted by: Sylvia Giacinta In: personal

I miss everyone in my home. Father, mother, kuku (), sisters, brother, even my maid. My cousins, my aunties and uncles. I miss them all.

But today, I really miss someone special.

My Kucong. (姑丈)

He doesn’t have any blood relationship with me. He is my father’s sister’s husband. Yet, the bond between us is so strong. His family lives near to mine. No doubt I’m very close to them. His daughter is my closest cousin until now, I even think of her as my elder sister.

Kucong passed away at April 10th 2006 . Leaving his lovely wife and two children behind.

And me……

He’s a great guy. He never surrendered to give the best for his family. Hardworking, yet full of jokes.

He took me and my cousin (mentioned earlier) to our first piano courses. Even after I grew up he often took me, my cousin, plus my sister to great eating places. Sometimes he just drives the car around Jakarta, not knowing where to go, well, just browsing around…

Kucong,
it really broke my heart when I saw you lying on the bed, full with unknown things penetrating into your weak body. And while you already lost your voice, they said you were still calling out my name… “Ah Vi ah booy oh?” (Where is Ah Vi -my nickname- in Hakka)

But I’m sure you’re already in peace now. You must be smiling there in heaven… Your daughter is doing really really great. She’s got that scholarship. Your son might still not able to accept the fact that you’re already gone, but I think he will, eventually…

And your niece is doing really fine here.

And I solemnly promise, Kucong.

I will try my best to make sure there are less people suffering like you. And that there would be less families in agony like your family.

And I will always try.

I promise.

I miss you……
