what i love about yahoo avatars

it can create someone you want to be!

Avatars should be representing ourselves. That’s why I always make my avatars
look like me.
The face, the style, the place, you name it!

Usually, my avatar will look like this :
Yahoo! Avatars

This is just soooo me. Polo shirt. Jeans. Simple, basic, classic. That’s my style motto. hahahahaha.
To make it more like me, I added a laptop, and used the background that resembles the SMU’s concourse. Hehehehe.

But, if I want to make myself look more stylish, I can do that! I can make it to be like this :

(and, I’m thinking to change my style into this. Waw. Must spend a lot of money. hahahahahaha. int’l student is tight on money!)

Are these avatars a way to express ourselves or a way to disguise ourselves?
Are we making our dream-look come true, or are we just getting away from the reality?
Whatever. I just love how my avatar looks like.

it’s raining..

Photo taken from inside Li Ka Shing Library, SMU

It’s so dark and gloomy outside. The rain just seems to be never-ending.

This is my 19th day in Singapore. Well, nothing much has happened. I’m going through the days like the days I’ve known before when I was at Penabur : full, hectic, and busy.

But, hell, what a difference I experience here.
Not to be offensive, but lemme jot down the difference between SMU and UPH.

@UPH, if u see people opening their laptops during classes, I can assure you that they’re either opening Friendster/Youtube/whatever or dozing off on MSN/Y!M/whatever.

@SMU, u can see all people opening their laptops but in front of them is the very materials of the class.
(er, there are also people who doze off, but really, there’s not much)

I can jot down another thing later, but rite now I should be listening to the lecture.
Er. They call it a seminar here.

Ciao!

photos..photos..

well.. i wanna post some photos here..
Here is one..

Can you see the flashy billboard at the middle? Can you read it?

It is “Roxy Square”.

Noooo, it’s not that Roxy Square in Jakarta!

Look closely at the left-top. That green thingy. What does it say?
Yeay. It says “Marine Parade Road”. (er,, actually.. it reads “arine parade road” there..hahaha)

Yeap. None other than Singapore’s very own Marine Parade Road!

Man, there is a Roxy Square in Singapore!

Are you wondering why the hell can I be far far away at the East Coast?
THere was a SMUKI Freshmen Orientation there. (SMUKI stands for SMU Komunitas Indonesia, by the way)

At that serene East Coast Park..

Man, I love lying at the ground and looking at the sky.. It made me recall the times when I was still in junior high school, when I was still a member of the Girl’s Scout. (oh wait. Is it Girl’s Guide now?) I still am. I should be. My name had been registered at the headquarters, I suppose.

Oh yeah, the event went great. =) Go go SMUKI!!

another photo :

Ooohh. Who’s that beautiful girl?? =P

This is my official photo of SMU. Probably for 4 years from now..
It looks kinda… awkward. D’ya see my hair pointing out there? D~uh.

And the whole photo just looks.. weird. Has someone done some retouch on that??

Oh yeah, in my college’s website, or better be called “Student’s Portal”, (oh, and it’s got its own name : OASIS) you can find all the photos of the students! My, my, my.

Oh yeah, that means you can find the photo of the person you secretly admire and save it in your computer or better on, use it as your desktop background.

Or print it out and kiss it every time before you sleep.

Or maybe you can use the print-out to voodoo your adversaries..hahahahaha

aaarrrhh already sleepy.. (gah. datz so singlish. d~uh)

ciao for now…..

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

VIVACE!

There was a CCA (co-curricular activities) festival at my campus’ concourse (underground linkway) today.
It was named….
VIVACE!
Whatever it stands for.
Vivace in music terms means very fast. And lively.

It was lively.
“Floorball! Floorball! Floorball!”
“Dung dung dung tak tak tak tak takkk!!”
“Pretpretpererpereprttt..”
“Whoooooooooo!!!!!”
And many others.

But it wasn’t fast.
In Indonesia’s most popular radio station, it is called “padat merayap”. Literally, it means “solid crawling”.
You don’t understand?
Never mind.

I could HARDLY move! Maaaan, it was just sooooo crowded.
It was like being a sardine stuffed into a can.
What did I do? Well, given the fact that I’m all free at Friday (and will always be for the rest of the 1st term, since I can’t bid –register- for anymore courses), I just hung around the SMUKI (SMU Komunitas Indonesia)’s booth, and ended up……
Offering a free photo session using the beautifully-beaded Indonesian Javanese costume.
My, my. It was hard to stop a person in that crowd. If I were in that crowd, I would also politely refuse. I would be so busy concentrating putting my feet on the ground and analyzing the way to get out of the crowd as quickly as possible.
But it was nice that the people who refused still smiled to me. I love smiles!
Hmmm I suddenly remembered that advertisement on a taxi : 4 million smiles to the world.
U only got 4 million, s’pore? Mine got 200 million, d’ya know that??

Goodness. I feel so lucky I got Acey (that’s the nickname for my new Acer TravelMate 3282WXMi). I won’t bore out in this place. And luckily my ma has just bought me Nokia N70 which can play the radio.. Myyy.. I’m lovin’ it!

So far, so good. Gw dah ga terlalu mau pindah tempat kos. Eh tapi sekarang nyokap malah dah setuju pindah. TApi gw ga bisa bayangin nantinya klo ada dia lagi..
Cari aman aja dah mendingan…

Ciao for now, darlings……

my my my………….

Maaan, I’m so sleepy.
I have been using don’t-know-whose wireless network to connect.. Freebies are nice!
I haven’t done my calculus homework! Oh, correction. I have not finished it.
Maaaan, why am I still lazy??

Tomorrow should be a free day to me.. I got no lectures at all..
Buuuttt…
Here is the summary of the calendar notes in my new hp (nokia n70!)

10.00 AM-11.00 AM
Briefing session SMUKI
SoA seminar room 3.1

11.00 AM
Calculus homework hand-in
Outside library- hand to Kian Boon

4.00 PM
TG Briefing
Administration Building level 5, Conference Hall

5.00 PM
ISCF Welcome Tea
SESS Classroom 3.4

See? All overlapping…
I’m really glad my mother bought me this hp which can hold so many calendar notes.. Gah. I really am busy…

And why am I still blogging instead of finishing that damn calculus homework??

My, my. I guess I haven’t changed after all.

Sooo, why don’t I tell you a story about me settling down here in S’pore?
Getting used to the Singlish.. (in fact, getting contaminated)
Getting used to p-a-r-t-i-c-i-p-a-t-e! Despite my sleepiness, especially at the 8.30 class..
Getting used to 3 (THREE) hours of lecture… (and sometimes more)
Getting used to walk into and out of buses, and tolerate their VIOLENT braking. (I swear it could make me fly to the front)
Getting used to be approached by a person and spoken to in Mandarin, and getting used to answer “Sorry, I don’t speak Mandarin”. (and they will frown. Why? See my face!)
Getting used to hear Indonesian spoken everywhere despite being out of Indonesia. (this is for real. I think Singapore’s been invaded. And I’m one of the invaders!!! =D)
Having said the before, I’m getting used to hear “Ya ampun, lo orang Indonesia juga?” after asking in English “Where are you from?”

Oh yeah, btw, my fave phrase if I’m told to introduce myself is:
“Hello all, my name is Sylvia. I am Indonesian, although I know I don’t look like one.”
Actually I wanna add it, to become like this:
“Hello all, my name is Sylvia. I know it’s short, but, less is more! I was born in Indonesia, but sometimes it just wasn’t enough to make me an Indonesian. Uhm, if you know what I mean. But still, I am Indonesian, so don’t speak Mandarin to me. Anyway, nice to meet you all.”
Haha. I never did it. Besides, there would be no introductions anymore.. I’ve passed all first classes. (and I always used my fave phrase)

I guess that’s all tonight.. Veeerrry sleepy.
Bye!

huehehehehe
